Stellest Lenses in
Naperville & Hickory Hills

Introducing Stellest Lenses

Early school years move fast, and rising prescriptions for children with myopia can be difficult to manage. If you’ve been hearing that your child’s nearsightedness is increasing, you may be looking for options beyond “just stronger glasses.”

At Morrison Eyecare, we offer Stellest lenses in Naperville & Hickory Hills as a practical, kid-friendly approach that helps children see clearly now while also addressing myopia management over time.

Stellest® lenses (by Essilor) are advanced eyeglasses lenses designed for children with myopia (nearsightedness). They’re also the first spectacle lens to receive FDA market authorization for not only vision correction, but for helping slow myopia progression in children as they grow.

If your child has been changing prescriptions frequently, Stellest lenses may be worth discussing during their next pediatric eye exam.

Benefits of Stellest Lenses

Stellest lenses use a specialized design called H.A.L.T. (Highly Aspherical Lenslet Target). Built into the lens are many tiny, “invisible” lenslets that create a controlled focusing signal (often described as myopic defocus). That signal is intended to help slow the eye’s growth in length, which is one of the drivers behind increasing myopia. Studies have shown that Stellest lenses can slow myopia progression by an average of 71% compared to single-vision lenses. 1

Stellest lenses can correct your child’s everyday vision while slowing future vision loss when worn as directed. Doctors recommend that children wear their lenses six days a week for ten hours at a time.

Who are the best candidates for Stellest lenses?

Stellest spectacle lenses are commonly recommended for children ages 6–12, with myopia (with or without astigmatism). They’re especially helpful for kids who:

    • Are newly nearsighted
    • Have a prescription that has been increasing each year
    • Want a non-contact-lens option that still supports myopia management.

Not sure what category your child falls into? We’ll help you find the best options for your family during your next visit.

Help your child see clearly again

Our team has years of experience guiding families through childhood myopia concerns, and we keep the process personal by listening first, then tailoring recommendations to your child’s needs and daily routine. Schedule an appointment to discuss Stellest lenses and your child’s myopia management options.

    How long does treatment last?

Myopia can continue changing as children grow, so we monitor vision over time and update prescriptions as needed. Stellest lenses are used through the years when a child is actively progressing, and your doctor will guide timing based on what we’re seeing at each visit.

Are the lenses covered by insurance?

Coverage varies. Because these lenses are newer and considered more specialized than standard single-vision lenses, some plans may cover part of the cost while others may not. We can help you understand your benefits and review your options.

Will my child need another set of glasses?

Stellest lenses are meant to be worn as your child’s primary everyday glasses. If your child prefers a backup pair or sports goggles, we can help you plan for that too.

What if the lenses don't work for my child?

Some kids notice a short adjustment period (often under a week) while their vision system adapts to the lens design. If anything feels off after that (blur, headaches, discomfort), schedule a quick check so we can troubleshoot and make it right.
